Key differences
- The income bars are close: Greece €3,500 a month after taxes, Croatia €3,622.50 a month (2.5× the average net salary). Only Croatia accepts savings instead: €43,470 for 12 months or €65,205 for 18.
- Family costs more in both: Greece adds 20% for a spouse or partner and 15% per child; Croatia adds 10% of the average net salary per family member.
- Greece is the longer route: a D visa of up to 12 months, then a Digital Nomad Residence Permit of up to 2 years, renewable for 2 more. Croatia grants up to 18 months; you can only extend if your first grant was shorter, and a new application is possible 6 months after your stay ends.
- Neither lets you work for local employers: no Greek companies (as an employee or freelancer), no Croatian employers.
