Which ones set a minimum amount of cover?
Japan Digital Nomad Visa: JPY 10 million; Latvia Long-Stay Visa for Remote Work: €42,600; Malta Nomad Residence Permit: €100,000; Romania Digital Nomad Visa: €30,000; South Korea Workation Visa: SGD 150,000; Thailand Long-Term Resident Visa – Work-from-Thailand Professional: USD 50,000. The other sources ask for insurance without stating an amount on the pages we check.
Is travel insurance enough?
Not always. Malta’s official requirements say travel insurance is not accepted and ask for fully comprehensive health insurance, while Namibia’s source mentions health or travel insurance. Most sources simply say health or medical insurance, so read the authority’s exact wording on each program page.
Does the insurance have to cover the whole stay?
For Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Italy, Japan, Malta, Panama and Taiwan, the official wording says the cover must run for the whole stay (Malta: one full year). Other sources don’t say how long, so ask the authority.
If a visa isn’t on this list, does that mean no insurance is needed?
No. We only list a rule the official pages we check state. 21 open programs don’t show one in our record (listed below), and consulates often ask for cover anyway. Check with the authority before you apply.
