Countries without a digital nomad visa

Plenty of guides list these countries as having a nomad visa. The official sources don't back that up. Here's what each government actually offers, with the source and the date we checked it.

Vietnam: no digital nomad visa (yet)

Vietnam has no visa for people who work remotely for foreign employers or clients. Two official sources set out what exists today.

The 90-day e-visa

The Vietnam Immigration Department says the e-visa is valid for a maximum of 90 days, single or multiple entry. You apply online at evisa.gov.vn (the portal moved there on 11 Nov 2024). It's the standard visitor route; Vietnam has no separate visa for remote workers.

The new UĐ1 / UĐ2 visas (from 1 July 2026)

Law 118/2025/QH15 came into force on 1 July 2026. It adds two visa types:

  • UĐ1: for foreigners who are high-quality digital-technology industry workers, and others given preferential treatment by law or a National Assembly resolution.
  • UĐ2: for the spouse and children under 18 of a UĐ1 holder.

Both visas run up to 5 years, and UĐ1/UĐ2 holders can get a temporary residence card for up to 10 years. This is a talent route for people Vietnam wants to attract, not a visa for remote workers paid from abroad. The article doesn't give an income figure or an application procedure.

El Salvador: no nomad visa

DGME's official list of temporary residence categories (F1–F16, plus extensions F17–F31) has no digital nomad, remote-work or teleworking category as of 26 Oct 2026. The closest official categories are F8 Rentista (income from abroad) and F7 Pensionados; neither is a remote-work permit, so confirm with DGME before relying on them. Third-party sites describing a dedicated El Salvador nomad visa with a fixed income figure could not be confirmed on any official source.

Peru: not open yet

Created by Legislative Decree 1582 for remote employees of companies based outside Peru (no Peruvian-source income). Migraciones said (Nov 2023) it would start being granted once implementing rules and a TUPA procedure are published. Re-checked 26 Oct 2026: the official notice is unchanged, and the current Migraciones TUPA (as amended by Resolución de Superintendencia 150-2025-MIGRACIONES) contains no digital nomad procedure, so treat as not yet open until confirmed.

Philippines: not open yet

Executive Order 86 (24 April 2025) authorizes the DFA to issue Digital Nomad Visas, but the implementing guidelines (procedure, fees, income figure, list of eligible countries) had not been published, and the DFA eVisa portal (evisa.gov.ph, including its PH Visa Policy page) showed no digital nomad category on 26 Oct 2026. Per the EO: 18+, remote work for employers or clients outside the Philippines, sufficient foreign-source income, no criminal record, health insurance for the whole stay, no local employment, and only for nationals of countries that offer DNVs to Filipinos. EO text read on the lawphil mirror (officialgazette.gov.ph blocks automated access).
