How to apply for Indonesia's E33G remote worker visa (Bali)

E33G is the visa people mean by "the Bali digital nomad visa": a year in Indonesia while you work for a company based abroad. You apply online yourself, with no sponsor, and it's issued in five working days. Here's each step from Indonesia's Directorate General of Immigration. Its page is in Indonesian (the English version was empty when we checked), so the translations are ours.

Income
USD 60,000 per year salary/income
Fee
Rp7,000,000 for 1 year
Stay
1 year, extendable online
Processing
5 working days

Step by step

Step 1: check you qualify

E33G lets you stay in Indonesia to carry out work for a company abroad. The two special requirements are bank account records showing salary or income of at least USD 60,000 a year, and an employment agreement with a company established outside Indonesia. You can also travel, visit friends or family, and go in and out of Indonesia while your re-entry permit is valid.

You can't work beyond what your stay permit allows, or sell goods or services unless your job requires it. That rules out Indonesian clients and local gigs.

Step 2: create an account on the official e-visa site

You need an account on evisa.imigrasi.go.id before you apply. E33G doesn't need a sponsor, so you apply yourself, from your own account. Use the official .go.id site; the immigration directorate points out that official Indonesian government sites end in .go.id.

Step 3: upload your documents

After you log in, upload electronic copies (PDF or JPEG) of the 7 documents in "What you'll need" below.

Step 4: pay Rp7,000,000 and wait 5 working days

The 1-year package costs Rp7,000,000:

  • Limited stay visa: Rp500,000
  • Category II visa verification: Rp2,000,000
  • Limited stay permit (ITAS), up to 1 year: Rp3,000,000
  • Re-entry permit, up to 1 year: Rp1,500,000

Immigration then checks your documents, verifies the payment, builds your profile, approves and issues the visa. That takes five working days after your payment is received.

Step 5: enter Indonesia within 90 days

The visa is valid for 90 days from issue. If you don't use it in that time, you have to apply for a new one. The visa's validity isn't the same as your length of stay. When the officer at the immigration checkpoint admits you, your limited stay permit (ITAS) and re-entry permit are issued automatically.

Bringing a spouse or children

The E33G page doesn't mention family. Indonesia's visa list has a separate family category (E31), including E31B for the spouse and E31E for a child of an ITAS or ITAP holder. Both need a sponsor who applies through evisa.imigrasi.go.id, and both cost Rp6,000,000 for 1 year or Rp8,500,000 for 2 years.

The official pages don't say whether an E33G holder can be that sponsor, so ask immigration (contact@imigrasi.go.id) before you plan around it.

After you arrive

Travel, extending and switching

You can leave and re-enter Indonesia as long as your re-entry permit is valid. The stay is 1 year. The stay permit can be extended online at evisa.imigrasi.go.id, and it can also be switched to another type of stay permit. The page doesn't list an extension fee, so check the fee on the e-visa site or ask immigration.

Don't overstay your permit: the page lists that as prohibited.

Quick answers

Does Indonesia have a digital nomad visa?

Yes: the E33G visa, which Indonesia's immigration directorate lists as a remote worker visa. It lets you live in Indonesia (including Bali) for a year while working for a company based outside Indonesia (imigrasi.go.id and imigrasi.go.id, read Nov 4, 2026).

How much income do I need for the E33G visa?

Salary or income of at least USD 60,000 a year, shown through your bank account. You also need a 3-month bank statement with at least USD 2,000 or the equivalent (imigrasi.go.id, read Nov 4, 2026).

How much does the E33G visa cost?

Rp7,000,000 for the 1-year package: Rp500,000 visa, Rp2,000,000 category II verification, Rp3,000,000 stay permit and Rp1,500,000 re-entry permit (imigrasi.go.id, read Nov 4, 2026).

How long does E33G take?

Five working days after your payment is received. The visa must then be used within 90 days of issue, or you need a new one (imigrasi.go.id, read Nov 4, 2026).

Do I need a sponsor?

No. You apply yourself through an account on evisa.imigrasi.go.id (imigrasi.go.id, read Nov 4, 2026).

Can I extend it?

Yes. The stay is 1 year, and the stay permit can be extended online at evisa.imigrasi.go.id. It can also be switched to another stay permit (imigrasi.go.id, read Nov 4, 2026).

Can I work for Indonesian clients?

No. You're not allowed to work outside what your stay permit covers, or to sell goods or services unless your job requires it (imigrasi.go.id, read Nov 4, 2026).

Can my family come with me?

The E33G page doesn't cover family. Indonesia has separate family visas for the spouse (E31B) and children (E31E) of ITAS/ITAP holders. They need a sponsor and cost Rp6,000,000 for 1 year or Rp8,500,000 for 2. Ask immigration whether your E33G permit lets you sponsor them (imigrasi.go.id and imigrasi.go.id and imigrasi.go.id, read Nov 4, 2026).
